We design, develop, and manufacture custom curved linear rail guide systems for medical, industrial, and mobile vehicle applications.   Below is an example of a system that allows a payload to be moved around a 160 degree turn. The track radius 228.6 mm (9 inches).

Custom 160 Degree Turn Example

Track radius 225mm (8.8 inches) with 1200mm (47.2 inches) long straight sections.  Up to 40 moving blocks can be utilized to move product along the rail.


Block (or carriage) is driven via external belt system

Payload is about 25 lbs (111 N) per block.

Background

In this application the customer needed to precisely move a scanning head around the perimeter of an object.   They knew the distance the head needed to be from the object for the best resolution, they knew the scan angle, and approximate weight of the scan head.   With that information we were able to quickly create a prototype solution for test and evaluation.

Curved Rail Guided Systems

Since most of these are made to order we can usually adjust or alter the materials.

Aluminium, Carbon Steel, and Stainless Steel are most popular

  • 6061 Alumimum for lightweight
  • ASTM 1020 for heavy duty
  • 17-4 Stainless for harsh or humid applications

These can also be finished with Special Plating or Coatings to enhance wear or durability.

Custom Design Capabilities

Prototypes:  We reserved a portion of our production area exculsively for building prototypes. The lead engineer takes "hands-on" responsiblity for the first prototpye.

Options:  Various length track sections can be made available. Special hole pattern can be accommodated on blocks.
